Experience

Oct 2025 – present

Automation Engineer

R.E. Mason, an Emerson Impact Partner, Aiken, SC

  • Develop and verify DeltaV control logic for continuous and batch processes: closed-loop control, interlocks, permissives and fault detection.
  • Verify logic on a Mimic simulation test bench before factory and site acceptance testing and on-site commissioning.
  • Configure operator HMI displays with plant operators, following human-factors practice.
  • Standardized control-system documentation (functional specifications and interlocks) across production areas.
  • Built Excel/VBA tools that parse and bulk-edit DeltaV configuration exports and operator graphics.

Aug 2023 – May 2025

Graduate Research Assistant

Cognitive Engineering Center, Georgia Tech, Atlanta, GA

  • Human-factors and decision-making lead within a multi-university space domain awareness research effort.
  • Elicited and verified requirements for a decision-support system for satellite maneuver analysis and anomaly triage, turning operator needs into testable system functions.
  • Modeled and analyzed vehicle behavior and telemetry to check the system's assumptions.

May – Oct 2023

Cockpit Design Intern

Universal Avionics (Elbit Systems)

  • Led interface design for a multifunction dial display, about 1.5 in across, on a new flight deck; four design iterations for pilot inputs and flow.
  • Wrote requirements documentation for flight-deck subsystems with the systems engineering team.
  • Tested flight-deck software edge cases in a simulated cockpit rig, then prototyped an Arduino switch actuator and a web interface so the team could run the rig remotely.

May – Aug 2022

Mechanical Engineering Intern

Raytheon Intelligence & Space, Los Angeles, CA

  • Produced AutoCAD and Creo drawings, with GD&T, for FPGA research prototypes sent to chip manufacturers.
  • Designed and 3D-printed a test rig to evaluate an intra-chip cooling method; wrote and ran thermal and fluidic test procedures.
  • Measured capacitance across more than 500 FPGA components to flag anomalies.

May – Aug 2021

RF Engineering Intern

Intelsat, Remote

  • Mapped coverage areas for future software-defined satellites while limiting overlap with the existing fleet.
  • Ran coverage options through a Linux-based demand simulator that predicted inflight Wi-Fi users per flight, to pick the best satellite configuration.

Projects and research

2023–2025, 8 weeks

Orbital transfer calculator

A browser calculator for Hohmann transfers that plots the transfer and shows every intermediate step, tested with three undergraduate and three graduate aerospace students.

Prototype and formative study, n = 6

Aug 2023 – May 2025

SDA decision support

Human-factors research on how operators analyze satellite maneuvers and triage anomalies, and what a decision-support system must do to help them.

Research role complete

Fall 2022, 6 weeks

Venus fog-mesh study

Comparing three passive mesh designs for condensing fog droplets, on a modular rig built for the test.

Complete; one trial per mesh

Fall 2022, 8 weeks

Six-axis load-cell rig

A compact fixture that applies known axial, transverse and moment loads to a strain-gauge load cell at the same time, so its error terms can be measured.

Built and proof-loaded; characterization not run

Fall 2022, 12 weeks

STARS L1 platform

A ten-person mission proposal for a propellant depot and lunar communications relay in a halo orbit around the Earth–Moon L1 point.

Proposal complete; concept study
